Police officer charged with assaulting women

It goes without saying that police officers should understand the finer details of the law. They should know right from wrong. Recently, however, a Chester police officer was charged with assaulting women at a police station. Furthermore, he asked women to expose themselves while also telling one that he hoped to have sex with her.

The allegations also claim that he also inappropriately touched a woman's thigh and once asked for a woman to provide revealing pictures.

The 37-year-old man has been working for the police department for approximately six years. Even so, he was formally charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure, and official oppression. Investigators also noted that all incidents occurred while the women were inside police headquarters.

As a result of the charges, the officer has been suspended from his job. He was taken into custody by authorities and later released after posting $25,000 bail.

Investigators said the man was charged after three women described their encounters with him, all of which occurred between the months of April 2015 and August 2015. It was during this time that he was staffed with the responsibility of guarding a holding cell.

Police officers are often put in a vulnerable position. On one side of things, they have to do what is best for the public. Conversely, there is always the possibility that somebody could accuse them of inappropriate behavior.

If a person is charged with a sex crime, it can change his or her life forever. This is even more so the case if the accused is eventually convicted.
