Man allegedly used neighbor's WiFi to download child pornography

A Brodheadsville man is facing multiple counts of possession of child pornography in connection with a case that took an interesting twist. Early last month, investigators discovered that child pornography was found through a peer-to-peer network for sharing files. The illegal activity was tracked to a home in Chestnuthill Township.

When police officers executed a search warrant for the home on Drive Way, they discovered that there wasn't any child pornography on any computer in the home.

The investigators didn't give up there. They kept looking into the matter and learned that one of the neighbors on Drive Way was likely the person who was responsible for the files. They obtained a search warrant for that home.

Officials executed a search warrant at the neighbor's home. They allege that the man was using his neighbor's Wifi to download the child pornography. They found a tablet computer during the search that contained videos and photos of child pornography. That computer will go through a full forensic examination.

The man who was charged with the child pornography charges was also charged with criminal use of a communication facility. His bail was set at $250,000. While his preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 14, the full extent of the alleged activities won't be known until the completion of a full forensic examination of his computer.

Child pornography charges can affect any defendant's life. The damage to his or her reputation, possibility of incarceration and other effects are some of the reasons why anyone facing charges of this sort should examine possible defense strategies as soon as possible.
