Pennsylvania man faces DUI charges after accident

Many people get, understandably, irate if they perceive that some of their constitutional rights are being violated. While most people are aware of their basic rights and would recognize a violation, those facing criminal charges may not be well-versed with the rights of those accused or suspected of a crime. One man in Pennsylvania who faces DUI charges will likely want to ensure that he is treated lawfully as he goes through the criminal process.

The charges stem from an accident that happened in December. Police claim that the 31-year-old man passed several vehicles before ignoring a stop sign. He then allegedly crash through a guardrail before hitting two homes and three parked motor vehicles.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle and suffered cuts and broken bones. His 15-year-old passenger also suffered injuries. It is unclear if anyone in the two houses were injured. The man now faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and reckless endangerment, among others.

In a case such as this, an experienced attorney in Pennsylvania can help advise the accused man now facing DUI charges, among others, of his options. Many attorneys will work with the prosecutor's office to negotiate an acceptable plea deal while simultaneously preparing to go to trial. This could involve seeking to have evidence excluded if gained unlawfully. One of the most important roles of an attorney is to ensure that the client's rights are not violated in order to ensure a fair trial. On many occasions, this includes filing motions with the court to challenge the admissibility of evidence at trial that does not meet the legal requirements of our criminal justice system.
