DUI charges pending for a Pennsylvania man

There can be a great deal of consequences for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Intoxicated driving is against the law in Pennsylvania, just as it is across the country. However, people are sometimes arrested and falsely given DUI charges. This is one reason why the American judicial system holds prosecutors to a high burden of proof in attempting to convict accused individuals.

One man was recently arrested and charged with drunk driving after a police officer pulled him over. A recent report claims that the man had allegedly been swerving between lanes and failed to use his signal to indicate that he was changing lanes. This apparently gave the Pennsylvania officer the probable cause to pull him over.

It was not clear if the man was given field sobriety tests or if his blood alcohol content had been checked prior to his arrest. However, the man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and had his car impounded. The report stated that the man was eventually processed on multiple DUI charges, including reckless driving, failure to maintain his vehicle in his lane and the failure to use a signal.

The mere accusation of DUI charges against this Pennsylvania man does not automatically make him guilty, however. Prosecutors must overcome a significant burden of proof if they hope to achieve a conviction in his case. This can make it important for accused individuals to fully understand their rights under the law, along with potential strategies they might be able to employ to fight the charges. In some situations, accused individuals may decide to seek out a plea arrangement in order to obtain a more positive outcome in a specific case.
